Employee engagement is about more than enjoying your job. It is about feeling connected to the people and community around you, knowing your work matters, having opportunities to share your ideas and perspectives, and feeling that your contributions are recognized and valued. Engagement is shaped by our individual experiences, but it is also something we create together through the ways we communicate, collaborate, recognize one another, and contribute to our university community.
Each Employee Engagement Spotlight will have three primary components:

Examples of engagement happening across ISU, including employee activities, opportunities, accomplishments, and ways our colleagues are building connection and community.

Ideas and actions you can put into practice to strengthen engagement in your own work, team or department.
Throughout the series, we will also explore the connection between the employee experience and the student experience. Whether or not your role involves working directly with students, the work each of us does contributes to ISU’s ability to serve our students and fulfill our mission.
Employee engagement is not created through one office, one leader or one program. It is shaped by all of us, often through the small things we do every day.
