The Idaho Transportation Department invites the community to an open house on Sept. 10 to review and give feedback on the plans to replace two Interstate 84 bridges over the A Canal west of Heyburn.
The existing bridges are more than 60 years old and have reached their functional lifespan. Replacing the bridges is an important step toward modernizing the corridor by widening the bridges for a future third lane to meet current needs and accommodate future traffic demands.
Open house details
Sept. 10, 2026
5 – 7 p.m.
Minidoka County Fire Protection District
1120 21st Street, Heyburn, Idaho 83336
For those unable to attend in person, the same information will be available online from Sept. 10 to Sept. 24 at itd.idaho.gov/project/i-84-a-canal-bridges-replacement/. While public feedback is always welcome, comments are most helpful if received by Sept. 24.
ITD is working closely with the community, agricultural and industrial businesses, and commuters to reduce impacts and facilitate ongoing access during future construction. ITD anticipates construction to begin in late 2027 or early 2028.
