PRICE, Utah – The CSI men's soccer team fell to 14th-ranked USU-Eastern in a low-scoring, defensive battle on Thursday afternoon, dropping the Golden Eagles back to .500 on the year at 2-2-0.
It was a challenge on both sides to really get any offense going as the match only saw six total shots and only two shots on goal. Both shots on goal came from the home side, as USU-Eastern was able to convert one of the two tries in the 55th minute to take a one-goal lead that would eventually hold up.
The Golden Eagles were only able to muster one shot offensively and it came from sophomore Enrique Nevarez. Outside of three corner kicks the Golden Eagles earned, those were the slim chances CSI had to find the back of the net.
Lasse Brier got the loss in goal for the Golden Eagles, surrendering the one goal and making one save.
The Golden Eagles now prepare for their tallest task yet, as they travel to take on the 4th-ranked Salt Lake Bruins on Saturday, with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
