TWIN FALLS, Idaho - Fresh off the heels of a big home win, CSI men's soccer freshman striker Rodrigo Julian Olmos has been named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his efforts over the weekend.
Olmos got the Golden Eagles off and running in their 5-0 win over Truckee Meadows on Saturday with a pair of goals early in the match to set the tone for a big offensive day. His first goal came in the fifth minute and he was quickly able to strike again in the 13th minute, giving the Valencia, Spain, native his first multi-goal game in his collegiate career.
The two goals doubled his season total to four and give him the outright lead on the team. Three of his four goals on the season have come at the hands of Truckee Meadows, while his lone other goal came in a 4-0 win over Colorado Northwestern. Olmos also holds team leads in shots with 14 and shots on goal with nine.
Olmos and the Golden Eagles now sit at 4-2-2 on the season and head into their final week of home matches, as they host USU-Eastern on Thursday and third-ranked Salt Lake on Saturday.
