TWIN FALLS, Idaho – The 7th-ranked CSI volleyball team picked up right where it left off on Thursday night, rolling to another three-set sweep over Central Wyoming 25-14, 25-22, 25-23 on the second night of the annual STARR Corp Invitational.
Fresh off the heels of a three-set sweep in their home opener, the Golden Eagles continued their hot start on their home floor, as they set the tone with a dominant 25-14 victory in the first set, followed by strong finishes in each of the final two sets to seal the close victories and improve their overall record to 8-2. Brinley Bybee once again led the offensive attack with 13 kills, as freshman Bilge Avcu pitched in eight kills off the bench. Mary Irwin dished out a game-high 19 assists, while Emerson Heatwole totaled 13 digs and three service aces in the victory. Emma Pannell had a solid all-around game, finishing with seven kills, nine digs and three service aces.
The Golden Eagles will finish out their opening weekend at home when they square off against Western Nebraska on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Golden Eagles defeated the Cougars back on Aug. 22 in straight sets.
