RENO, Nev. - The CSI Women's Soccer team picked up a big road win in its conference opener as it outlasted Truckee Meadows 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles, despite only coming away with two goals, were on the attack all game long as they tallied 31 total shots, with nine players registering multiple shots.
CSI was able to break through in the 19th minute as Annie Layton scored the first of her two goals on the day. Truckee was able to even the score just before the half, taking advantage of one of its only three shots on the day to equalize the game at one heading to the break.
The Golden Eagles continued to put together solid attacks and in the 72nd minute were able to break through for the game-winning goal, Layton's second, on a feed from Brielle Cooper. Cooper also finished with three shots, which was matched by Elektra Cresswell and Maggie Anderson. Hallie Bringhurst picked up an assist, and goalie Avery Charlesworth earned the win by making one save.
The Golden Eagles will now gear up for their home opener, as they take on in-state rival North Idaho on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
