Local leaders today announced a community effort to create a permanent memorial honoring the lives taken in the August 1, 2026, mass shooting, recognizing everyone affected and providing a peaceful place for remembrance, reflection and healing.
The City of Twin Falls is leading the memorial planning process and will work with families, survivors, first responders, community members and other stakeholders to guide decisions about the memorial’s design, location and implementation. Additional details and opportunities for community input will be shared as the process moves forward.
The Twin Falls Community Foundation (TFCF), which has served the community since 2007, is leading the local fundraising effort through its Special Projects Fund. Now an affiliate of the Idaho Community Foundation (ICF), the TFCF remains locally led while gaining access to ICF’s charitable fund management, administrative support and statewide philanthropic expertise. To help launch the memorial project, ICF has contributed $20,000 in seed funding.

“This memorial will be shaped by the people of Twin Falls and created with care for everyone whose life was changed by this tragedy,” said Twin Falls Mayor Jason Brown. “Our goal is to provide a lasting place where our community can remember, reflect and come together.”
“A thoughtful process means listening closely to families, survivors and community members as the project takes shape,” said Twin Falls City Council Member Ruth Pierce. “Their voices will help guide a memorial that is inclusive, respectful and meaningful for generations to come.”
Donations will support approved memorial-related costs, which may include community input, planning, design, permits, construction, installation, accessibility, security, communications and long-term stewardship. The City of Twin Falls and the Twin Falls Community Foundation will oversee project decisions and spending, and project and fundraising updates will be shared with the community.
“The Twin Falls Community Foundation has supported local generosity and community needs since 2007, and this project reflects that long-standing commitment,” said Jan Rogers of the Twin Falls Community Foundation. “Our affiliation with the Idaho Community Foundation gives us strong administrative support and added philanthropic expertise while keeping this effort rooted in Twin Falls. ICF’s $20,000 seed contribution gives the campaign an important start.”
This campaign is separate from funds that provide direct assistance to victims, survivors or families. Contributions to the Special Projects Fund will be used only for approved memorial-related purposes.
