Minico 59, Jerome 45

JEROME – The Spartans cruised to another Great Basin Conference win Wednesday on the road.

Minico built a 33-16 lead through two quarters.

“Minico shot the ball really well,” Jerome coach Jeremy Munroe said. “They’re just a really good team.”

Taylia Stimpson scored a game-high 23 points, and Bailey Black added 11 for the Spartans (11-5, 6-0), who host rival Burley on Friday.

Jordan Hill scored 12 points, and Mercedes Bell added 11 for Jerome (5-11, 2-4), which hosts Wood River the same day.

TWIN FALLS — The Bruins took a slim halftime lead and turned it into a 20-point conference victory at home over Wood River.

Kylie Baumert led the game with 14 points for Twin Falls. Audra Mary scored eight points for the Wolverines.

The Bruins (8-8, 4-2) will make the short drive to Canyon Ridge on Friday for the second leg of the crosstown rivalry series, and the Wolverines (4-10, 1-5) will travel to Jerome the same day.

BURLEY — The Bobcats earned their fourth straight win with a victory over Canyon Ridge at home.

Three Bobcats scored in the double digits on the night: Jemilynn Mahoney (12), Rebecca Tolman (11) and Sydney Pilling (10). Caitlin Crist tied the game high with 12 points for the Riverhawks.

Burley head coach Roger Caresia said his team’s offense was good, but he was most impressed with the defense.

“Our energy on the defensive end was the key,” Caresia said. “It started early, and we kept it up.”

Burley (11-5, 5-1) will get a second chance to beat Minico on the road on Friday. Canyon Ridge (2-12, 0-6) will host Twin Falls for the in-town rivalry on Friday.

KIMBERLY — Buhl outscored the No. 5-ranked Bulldogs 20-11 in the fourth quarter to earn an upset win on the road.

Buhl’s Carter Kelsey scored a game-high 24 points, including six 3-pointers.

“We didn’t guard Kelsey very well, and he just made his shots,” Kimberly head coach Daren Garey said.

Connor Golay led Kimberly with 15 points.

The Indians (4-7, 1-0) will play at Gooding on Friday, while the Bulldogs (8-4, 1-1) will travel to Declo on Tuesday.

TWIN FALLS — The Lions bounced back from a tight loss, cruising past Richfield at home.

The win follows a three-point loss to Murtaugh at home, only the second loss of the season for the Lions.

Alex Shetler topped the Lighthouse Christian score sheet with 11 points. Hayden Tree led Richfield with five points.

The Lions (7-2) will make the trek to Community School on Thursday, and the Tigers (0-11) will begin a six-game homestand on Saturday against Hansen.
