Canyon Ridge 48, Filer 38

TWIN FALLS — A big first half and a dominant performance from Caitlin Crist helped the 4A Riverhawks beat the 3A Wildcats on the first day of the Twin Falls Holiday Tournament.

Canyon Ridge led 13-3 after one quarter and 24-8 at halftime.

Crist scored a game-high 29 points on efficient shooting: 11-of-15 from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 from the free throw line.

The Riverhawks (2-10) wrap up the tournament Saturday against Mountain Home, while Filer plays Spring Creek (Nev.) on Friday.

TWIN FALLS — Eleven players scored the for Bruins in their blowout win to open the Twin Falls Holiday Tournament.

McKayla Rodriguez scored 14 points (5-of-7 from the field), and Gracie Mumford scored 13 (5-of-6) for Twin Falls, which hosts Skyline on Friday back at the Holiday Tournament.

Taylia Stimpson scored 14 points (6-of-16 shooting from the field) for Minico (8-3), which returns to the Timberlion Tournament on Friday.

Centennial 72, Minico 66

JEROME – Centennial overcame a big performance from Kasen Carpenter to win the Magic Valley Holiday Classic title.

“We got a little cold in the second quarter, but we fought so hard,” Minico coach Ty Shippen said. “It was fast-paced, physical. Just a tough game mentally for our guys.

Carpenter scored a game-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 7-of-11 on 3-pointers.

Kobe Matsen and Rylan Chandler each scored 13 points, and Regen Povlsen scored 11 for Minico (7-2), which hosts Preston on Thursday.

JEROME – The Russets pulled away from the Bulldogs for a nonconference 3A win Thursday in the consolation final of the Magic Valley Holiday Classic.

“We were a step slow,” Kimberly coach Daren Garey said. “Shelley really shot the ball really well. When we weren’t there and contesting, they made it, and sometimes when we were contesting, they made it.”

Gage Burnham scored 15 points, and Trey Garey added 10 for the Bulldogs (6-3), who play at American Falls on Jan. 2.
