Head Coach: Rusty Kramer, 2nd year

2016 Record: 4-5 (1-4 1A-DII Sawtooth West Conference)

Playoffs: Lost to Carey 34-6 in second round of 1A-DII playoffs

The Camas County Mushers waste no time before jumping into the meat of their 2017 schedule. Three of the Mushers’ first four games are against last year’s Sawtooth West Conference playoff teams.

Camas hosts state semifinalist Carey in week one, the same Carey that knocked Camas out of the state playoffs last season, then travel to defending conference champion Dietrich in week three before hosting Lighthouse Christian in week four.

“No one wants to see their toughest game as their opener, but on the other hand, we’re as full-strength as we can get. With low numbers, anyone who is ineligible because of grades or any injuries late in the season can drastically change things,” said second-year head coach Rusty Kramer.

The Mushers must replace graduated multi-sport standout Austin Burns on both sides of the football, and two-way lineman KC Hainline transferred out of district. They will rely on a two-headed running back tandem of senior Erik Robles and junior Remington Kramer on the ground, and sophomore Trey Smith will take over at quarterback after getting limited snaps last year.
