RANGELY, Colo. — The College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball team rebounded from a loss to Salt Lake Community College with a 99-63 win over Colorado Northerwestern CC on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles ran out to a 57-27 lead at halftime of the Scenic West Athletic Conference game, shooting 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the field and 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from 3-point range in the half.

For the entire game, CSI shot 51.7 percent from the field and 51.9 percent from 3.

CSI’s Khalid Thomas had a near-perfect game, scoring 16 points on 7-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-2 on 3s. He did, however, miss both of his free throws.

Roberto Gittens scored a game-high 19 points (6-of-8 on FGs, 5-of-7 on 3s), while Charles Jones Jr. (3-of-8 from the field) and Danya Kingsby (2-of-6 from the field, 7-of-7 on free throws) each scored 11. Jake Hendricks had 10 points (3-of-6 from 3).

CSI (18-3, 2-1) returns home this coming week and will face USU Eastern on Saturday.

CSI women dominate

RANGELY, Colo. — The College of Southern Idaho women’s basketball team blew out Colorado Northwestern CC 94-44 for its second straight Scenic West Athletic Conference win.

CSI jumped out to a 27-8 lead after one quarter, led 47-16 at halftime and continued to increase the lead in the second half. As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 53.7 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from 3-point range.

Tiena Afu (5-of-7 on field goals) and Jane Nelson (5-of-9) each scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Filer High School graduate Meghan Hughes (5-of-7), Mallory Lapoole (4-of-6) and Chesney Campbell (4-of-7) each chipped in 10 points. Lapoole had a team-high eight rebounds.

CSI (17-4, 2-1) hosts USU Eastern on Saturday.
