Hire a Veteran campaign a success

A huge thank you to all that participated in helping make our first statewide “Hire a Veteran Campaign” successful.

First, the veteran job seekers desiring to better their opportunities to support their families. Many of these veterans are transitioning from previous warrior occupations to civilian careers. They bring special skills to the table, skills learned in real world situations: accelerated learning curve, leadership, teamwork, diversity and inclusion in action, efficient performance under pressure, respect for procedures, integrity, and triumph over adversity… they bring all of this and more.

Thank you for supporting the “Hire a Veteran Campaign” that was held on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017. We could not have a hiring event without employers like you: Agropur Jerome Cheese; Amalgamated Sugar; BBSI; C3/Custom Connect Channels; City of Twin Falls; Clif Bar; Gem State Security; Green Acres Pet Center; IES Custom Staffing; Sage Truck Driving School; Transportation Security Administration; BRP Health Management Systems, Inc.; Cactus Pete’s; Gem State Staffing; IBEW Electrician Union; Idaho Milk Products; McCain Foods USA, Inc.; Mid-Columbia Bus Company; Social Security Administration; Top Gun; and Tradesmen Staffing LLC.

I also want to acknowledge that several employers who could not participate but helped advertise the “Hire a Veteran Campaign.” A special thank you to D.L. Evans Bank and the College of Southern Idaho for showcasing the event on their reader boards, to First Federal Bank /Jessica Wolf along with her colleagues for providing cookies to all who participated. Furthermore, a thank you to Eddie Gallegos and Cindy Morgado from Fairway Independent Mortgage Co. who volunteered to help staff the sign-in table as well as Rebekah Yancey from Commercial Creamery Company who volunteered to help support the event.

Last but not least, our very own Idaho Department of Labor Twin Falls office team. What an awesome group of folks to work with. Thank you ALL and a loud and thunderous Hooah! (Army thing, you know).

Thanks for supporting Filer schools

On behalf of the Filer School Board, Filer School District Staff, and most importantly the students of the Filer School District, I want to thank the community for renewing the supplemental levy. The Filer School District community has always supported the education of its students. This vote is further proof of that commitment to the students of the Filer School District. There was a great turn out to vote, and almost 70 percent supported the renewal of the supplemental levy.

The levy funds are crucial to the education of the Filer School District students. These levy funds will allow the district to maintain existing programs and together we will move forward to prepare students for their future after graduation.

There are too many people to thank individually. Nevertheless, I want to thank the leaders of the parent organizations at each school. In addition I want to thank our Music and FFA Booster Club members. These groups were instrumental in making sure the necessary information about the supplemental levy was sent out to those in the community.

I am truly grateful to work in a community so supportive of education. This vote truly shows the value the Filer School District community has for its children’s education. The children, who are the future of this community, will be the benefactors of your efforts.

Words may not be adequate to express the appreciation for the vote to maintain the existing programs and the ability to move forward together, however I do want to personally thank you.

Thank you for Festival of Giving

I’m writing in appreciation of all the time and work that went into the three-day event. We went especially because our friends Jeff and Sandy were singing and playing, but we really enjoyed all of the talent and all of the beautiful Christmas trees. Sometimes these things don’t get the recognition they deserve. Thank you.
