FILER — Multiple structures burned Monday afternoon in a fire north of Filer as firefighters battled windy conditions.
Police blocked roads near the fire at 2223 East 4100 North.
Police said multiple structures and vehicles had burned at the property.
In addition, multiple other fires, some triggered by downed power lines, were reported in Magic Valley on Monday afternoon and night as high winds swept the area. Many of the incidents caused property damage, including a fire at 1546 East 3600 South near Wendell, where a barn containing silage was reported on fire. Crews were still at the scene at 10:30 p.m.
Between 4-10 p.m Monday, the Southern Idaho Regional Communications Center received 28 utility calls including downed power lines, 24 traffic incidents involving items blown onto the roadway and six brush fires, in addition to the two structure fires, according to dispatcher Tami Mulliner. Many times, dispatchers receive more than one call about the same incident, she noted.
A high-wind warning was in effect until 9 p.m. Monday.
