TWIN FALLS — Southern Idaho’s food processing and production has once again garnered national attention.
The region was honored by a national publication for economic development. Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization received the 2016 Award of Excellence from Expansion Solutions, a magazine for site selection consultants and corporate real estate brokers.
The award noted SIEDO’s success in expanding the food-processing and production industries here in Idaho.
“With the region’s federal Manufacturing Community designation in food from the U.S. Department of Commerce and its growing sector in all things food, SIEDO and its regional partners have excelled in driving economic development success for Idaho,” Jeff Cornett, CEO and president of Expansion Solutions, said in a statement.
The magazine’s annual Top 5 Awards of Excellence recognize progress made by economic development organizations. Winning locations were chosen based on their support systems for businesses, recent activity and potential growth. Other big factors included investments in infrastructure and the availability of buildings and sites.
Southern Idaho earned the Federal Food Manufacturing Community designation from the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2015.
