February 4, 1961 – December 3, 2017
HEYBURN — Theresa Ann Surrage, a 56-year-old Heyburn resident, passed away Sunday December 3, 2017, in Murray, Utah, due to complications from a medical procedure.
Theresa was born February 4, 1961, in Anchorage, Alaska at the Elmendorf US Air Force Base, to parents John H. and Gertrude McBride Delaney. Her father was a Sergeant First Class in the US military, which caused the family to reside in several locations during Theresa’s upbringing, which included Sunnyvale, California; Preston, Idaho and Burley Idaho. Theresa completed her schooling in Burley and went to work for the J.R. Simplot company where she worked for the next 25 years in production until its closure in 2003. Over the following years she maintained the books and accounting for CJ Electric before finally retiring to become a housewife and do volunteer work, primarily at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley.
Theresa loved her grandchildren dearly and was involved in their everyday lives. She loved all holidays and decorated extensively for them in her home. She loved cooking holiday dinners, making jam, candies and cookies, and watching people enjoy them. She found pleasure in taking care of neighbors and friends; she often made dinners and other goodies to take over to them. Her volunteer work for the elderly patients at Parke View was very self-fulfilling; she enjoyed playing Pinochle with them, serving them food and preparing the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
She married her best friend and the love of her life, Chad Surrage, and they resided in Heyburn until her passing. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Surviving her is her husband, Chad; children, Valerie (Cody) Harris of Rupert, Jamie (Sergio) Velasco of Burley, Jason Baxter of Rupert, and Preston Surrage of Ogden, Utah; her precious grandchildren, Skyler Sibbett, Leah Harris, and Ethan Velasco; her siblings, which include her sister, Cee Cee (Damon) Roach of Reidsville, North Carolina; her brothers, William (Linda Mae) Delaney of Rupert, and John (Betty) Delaney of Heyburn; and sister, Stella (Ron) Hoffman of Ocean Shores, Wash. Her extended family includes her, father-and-mother-in-law, Jim and Joyce Surrage of West Warren, Utah; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Jackie) Surrage of Willard, Utah; sister-in-law, Susan Hadley of West Warren, Utah; and brothers-in-law, Tyler (Cynthia) Surrage of West Warren, Utah, and Shawn Surrage of West Haven Utah.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marita Delaney; her parents, John and Gertrude Delaney; siblings, Colleen and Vernon Blair; and brother-in-law, Sherm Hadley.
Theresa’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the personnel at Cassia Regional Hospital, the crew of Life Flight and the many awesome folks at Intermountain Healthcare in Murray who went above and beyond the call of duty for their care of Theresa. The family also thanks many wonderful friends and neighbors who have reached out to express kindness and offerings to help with chores, etc... Thank you so much.
Theresa was so well loved and touched the lives of all who crossed her path. She truly cared about people.
