April 14, 1941 – March 5, 2017
John Kent Just was born April 14, 1941 to Charles “Chick” Just and Iris Pratt Just Adamson. He passed away after a short illness in Boise on March 5, 2017.
He grew up on the family farm outside Firth, Idaho. He was a member of 4-H and was president of the Firth High School FFA. He took over the family farm at age 19 upon the sudden death of his father in 1960. He loved farming and ranching but found his true vocation was in his voice and personality through a number of professional endeavors, first as an auctioneer and later as a disc jockey, and ultimately as a community leader for both the Idaho Falls (1972 to 1980) and Twin Falls Chambers of Commerce (1988 to 2004).
Kent was known for his gregarious personality and contagious laughter. He was a proud Rotarian and enjoyed “choir practice” Friday nights with pals. He was known as “Mr. Twin Falls” because of his deep commitment and leadership in the business community there for nearly 30 years. Kent traveled all over the US, professionally as a driver for Freedom Auto Finders and personally to see cousins and close friends. In 1962, he married Joyce Fleming, and they had two daughters, Lisa Just (Skip Carter) and Leslie Just Dolenar (Daniel Dolenar), both of Boise. In addition to being survived by his daughters he had five grandchildren, Miranda Allen, Mallory, Aubree, Linley and Mason VanDercar and two brothers, Charles “Kim” Just (Vanda Just) and Rick Just (Rinda Just).
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 pm at the Turf Club in Twin Falls, Idaho. Donations in Kent’s memory can be made to the Twin Falls Rotary Club for FFA Scholarships at PO Box 1238, Twin Falls, Idaho 83303-1238.
