DECLO – The sunshine is setting on the sweetest lady in the world, Florence Dolores Kelsey, 86, of Declo, who passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at Parke View Rehabilitation & Care Center in Burley.

Dolores was born October 10, 1930, in Magna, Utah, the daughter of Owen Herron and Florence Rushton Herron. She graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna and then completed two years of college studies. She married J. Robert Kelsey, in Magna, on December 30, 1950, and together they had seven children.

She was a dedicated mother and homemaker to her children and a devoted wife. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a devoted primary teacher, nursery leader, visiting teacher and faithful Den Mother in the Scouting program.

Dolores was gifted in the arts. During her high school years, she and her best friend Elaine Hepworth were involved together in acting, singing, yodeling and comedy. They have remained friends for 81 years. Her angelic voice is now heard throughout heaven, singing her beautiful songs. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, writing and artistry. She was blessed with the opportunity to travel to the country of Israel and the U.S. city of Nauvoo, Illinois, which both held religious significance to her. She was a faithful writer, sending many letters to family, friends and missionaries!

She loved and was deeply loved by her children and grandchildren. They felt as if Heavenly Father must have given them a choice as to who would become their mother in this life. She had unconditional love for each of her children. She enjoyed her buddy and great-grandson, Kace Kelsey. She said he made life worth living. Charly was also a special, giving great-granddaughter to Dolores.

Dolores is survived by her children, Eddy (Valerie) Kelsey of Declo, Debra (Rodney) Hammond of Burley, Paul (Karen) Kelsey of West Valley City, Utah, Bret Kelsey of Declo, Ronnie Kelsey of Declo, Lynn (Norma) Kelsey of Twin Falls, Idaho, Bart (Tina) Kelsey of Eagle River, Alaska and Rachel Kelsey of Paul; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Robert; her parents Owen and Florence; her brother, Londo Herron; her sisters, Myrna Nielsen, and Sherrie Holsteen; her grandson, William Wells; her daughter-in-law, Denise Kelsey.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—Declo Stake Center, 213 W. Main, with Bishop Dale Darrington officiating. Burial will be in Declo Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at the church.
