September 5, 1941 – February 26, 2018

Bonnie Beckley passed peacefully at her home on February 26, 2018 surrounded by her family and her loyal dog, Lettie. Bonnie was born on September 5, 1941 in Hailey, Idaho to John and Ruth Reeder. Bonnie grew up on a farm in the Wood River Valley with Connie and brothers Teddy and Sunny. Her love of animals and the outdoors began early and it became evident these passions would continue to define her. She married Ron Beckley on December 31, 1963. She and Ron spent a lifetime camping, horseback riding, and fishing on the Salmon River. While raising her family, she was involved in 4-H projects, timing at family team ropings, and supervising branding day. Everyone who attended a Beckley branding knew she was the real branding boss! And just about everyone learned to ride or rope on her beloved Smokey. Her love of animals and the outdoors were passed on to her children-Angie, Kelly, Luke and to her grandchildren, Heather and Jeffery. All spent plenty of time in the saddle riding with Bonnie.

Throughout her life Bonnie demonstrated a strong and compassionate spirit while balancing and caring for the needs of others. This compassion and spirit helped her enjoy working with the students at the Dietrich School. She guided many students to improve their learning skills and promote achievements in the classroom. She also remained close to her high school friends during the 58 years since she graduated. She helped plan several Hailey High school reunions including the one last year. The support and love from her friends, former students and neighbors greatly comforted Bonnie and her family in the past difficult months. Many stopped by to visit, have tea and sample the famous Bonnie Beckley bread. In particular support from Tim Conant, Donna and John Powers, Traci Perron, and Iva Lee Green were vital in facing this difficult time. We will be forever grateful for their love and support.

Bonnie faced her last few months with the same spirit, grace and true grit that steeled her throughout her life. We all hope to face adversity with the same grace that she did. We will all miss her and her loving spirit deeply. She is survived by her husband Ron Beckley, daughters Angie Grove (spouse Eric Grove) and Kelly Kesling (spouse Scott Kesling), grandchildren Heather Skopow (spouse Blake Rambo) and Jeffery Skopow, brother Sunny Reeder, and sister Connie Pierce. She was preceded in death by her son, Luke and brother Ted Reeder. A family service and celebration of Bonnie’s life will take place at a later date.
