TWIN FALLS — A new ice cream shop is planned for Cheney Drive West, south of Walmart.
The Canyon Rim Creamery will open in a new building next to the CapEd Credit Union, property manager Gerald Martens told the Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday. It will feature Reed’s Dairy products.
Reed’s Dairy is an Idaho Falls-based business, known around southern Idaho for its ice cream.
“This would be completed late fall,” Martens said during his presentation at a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Tuesday. “Before the end of the year, it will be open.”
That could be around Thanksgiving, he said.
After Marten’s presentation, the Commission unanimously approved the ice cream shop’s request for a special use permit to operate a drive-through. City Planner Brock Cherry said he was not concerned about significant traffic impacts on Cheney Drive West.
The creamery will be one of five tenants in the building that’s under construction. A Hong Kong Restaurant and a spin cycle studio will also be in that building, Martens previously told the Times-News.
The owners of the ice cream shop did not return calls earlier in the week requesting more information.
