RUPERT — A Mini-Cassia trucking company is helping transport filled sandbags to Blaine County that were donated by the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office after a trucking company employee came up with the idea.
Ricky Johnson, who drives for Handy Trucking made the suggestion to the sheriff’s office to donate the left-over sandbags to help Blaine County citizens.
“Within a couple minutes the sheriff’s office called me back,” Johnson said.
Bryce Morgan, with Handy Trucking, said the company will be delivering about 100 pallets of the sandbags.
While Morgan waited for his truck to be unloaded he was able to help fill sandbags and deliver some sandbags to residents near the river who are in the flood path.
“It was pretty neat,” he said.
The sandbags are available for all Blaine County private citizens who need them. The sandbags are at the Blaine County/city of Hailey Sandbag Partnership Site, on Maple Street at the north end of the old Blaine Manor in Hailey.
