Johnny Gamboa with Brother Speed South Central Chapter motorcycle club helps carry in toys to the Mini-Cassia Christmas Council Dec. 8, 2016.

BURLEY — The Mini-Cassia Christmas Council will hold sign up days for Christmas boxes on Nov. 11 and 18 at Heyburn Elementary School.

The person signing up must get a referral from Community Action, their child’s school or Health and Welfare.

Sign up on both days will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

There will be people available to help fill out paperwork and check for proof of residency and income.

This year Minico High School senior Trajan Rodriguez held a golf scramble to benefit the council as his senior project.

He raised more than $2,000 and the money will help purchase the rest of the toys needed to finish putting together the toy bags for December distribution, Christmas Council President Linda Short said.

The council still needs blankets, toys, toiletry items and food.

All monetary donations will be used for meat certificates, more gift items and paying the council’s utility bills, Short said.

The council, 1256 Overland Ave. is open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays for donations.
