TWIN FALLS — A Twin Falls woman who police said stabbed her ex-boyfriend in the chest a month ago during a domestic dispute is being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Jenna Winfrey, 27, was arraigned Wednesday. She was released with a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 13.
Kristopher Gates was stabbed at an apartment on Elizabeth Boulevard on July 31, and told police initially he had accidentally injured himself on the front door. According to a police affidavit, Winfrey later said they had been fighting and said she stabbed him, but gave conflicting accounts of how it happened, saying at one point it was accidental and another that she stabbed him in self-defense because he was hitting her.
Police said there was a history of calls to the apartment for domestic disturbances, and that Gates had been arrested about two months before for domestic battery.
