BURLEY — Police say a Heyburn man cocked a pistol and pointed it at a 16-year-old girl’s face.
Jason David Drake, 42, is charged with aggravated assault with an enhancement penalty for the use of a weapon and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, according to court records.
Cassia County Sheriff Deputies responded to Milner Road and 600 West in Cassia County just after 5 p.m. Friday for a report of a man pointing a gun at a person.
Deputies confiscated a handgun and magazine with seven rounds in it and ejected one round from the chamber of the gun.
A woman who was driving the car the girl was riding in said they passed a pickup that was stopped on the road.
The driver said the girl and another passenger said they knew the people in the pickup and persuaded the driver to turn around and park behind the truck. The girl and a male passenger walked to Drake’s pickup on the passenger’s side and the girl had a verbal confrontation with a female passenger about creating a fake Facebook page, the court records said.
Witnesses said Drake got out of the driver’s side of the truck, cocked the handgun and pointed it at the girl’s face and told her to leave.
The girl said she put her hands up in the air and walked back to their vehicle.
The male passenger said he was walking behind the girl and heard someone cocking the pistol. He then saw Drake point the gun at the girl, the report said.
He told officers that he was “scared for their safety.”
