SHOSHONE — A 71-year-old Dietrich woman was killed in an drunken driving crash Wednesday night, police say.
Cheryl Miller died in the crash after her car was hit by a pickup that crossed the center line on U.S. 93.
About 7 p.m. Idaho State Police responded to the crash at milepost 65, about eight miles south of Shoshone.
Police say 39-year-old Larry Halbert of Caldwell was southbound on U.S. 93 in a Ford F150. Miller was northbound in a Nissan Maxima. Harlbert crossed the center line, striking Miller's car head-on.
Miller died at the scene, and Halbert was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center.
Halbert wasn't a patient at St. Luke's, as of Thursday morning.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The road was closed until about 11:15 p.m. ISP continues to investigate.
The Jerome County Sheriff's Office and Idaho Transportation Department assisted.
Charges are pending, an Idaho State Police spokesman said Saturday.
