BURLEY — A jury trial for the owner of a Burley cattle company on the Cassia County District Court that was on the docket for Nov. 8 has been reset to March.

Allen Reed Ward is charged with two felony counts of grand theft after police say Ward and Little Moo Cattle Company failed to deliver cattle to a Texas company.

A jury trial in the case is now set at 8:30 a.m. March 7.

Owners of Primera Beef of Texas told detectives Ward had previously sent them truckloads of calves.

On the last shipment, they said, Ward loaded 168 calves onto a truck and they wired $83,993.40 to Ward’s bank. After the money transfer Ward was told by the brand inspector to unload the truck so it could be inspected.

The Texas company said Ward never returned the cattle to the truck and told them he was not going to send the calves until they paid an outstanding bill for $41,459.60.

The owners said there were no outstanding bills.
