GOODING — Northwest Farm Credit Services has awarded a $2,500 Rural Community Grant to Helping Hearts and Hands Inc. in Gooding.
“We are thrilled to receive this Rural Community Grant from Northwest Farm Credit Services,” said Claire Major, volunteer grant writer, in a statement. “We’ll add the grant to others, which will allow us to purchase a $22,000 backup generator for our county’s food bank. This generator will enable us to keep our office open and all of the food usable during an urgent situation such as a natural disaster, long-lasting power failure or other emergency. Thank you so much for your wonderful support of our county food bank.”
In 2017 to date, Northwest Farm Credit Services has committed more than $250,000 to 171 projects in rural communities across Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Since the program’s inception in 2007, it has awarded 805 grants totaling more than $1.46 million.
The next rural grant deadline is Feb. 1. If you think a rural project may be eligible for a grant, visit northwestfcs.com/Stewardship/Rural-Communities for more information and an application.
