Help celebrate National Energy Awareness month and National Weatherization Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Prestwick Senior Apartment Complex, 1285 S. Lincoln in Jerome.
The South Central Community Action Partnership (SCCAP) has invited anyone interested to attend a weatherization demonstration project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Guest speakers including Ameer Bishay, deputy director of weatherization services for the National Association for State Community Services Programs, and Chris Ischay with the Idaho National Laboratory will speak on Idaho’s energy future.
In 2009, SCCAP received more than $4 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for its low-income weatherization program. This funding has allowed the organization to complete 239 homes so far this year. Nationally, weatherization agencies work every day to weatherize the homes of families who are struggling to meet their most basic needs.
