TWIN FALLS – A developer wants to construct five buildings, including at least one restaurant, south of Walmart.

HB Properties, based in Salt Lake City, has requested a special use permit that would allow it to have five buildings with drive-through windows and hours of operation extended to 1 a.m. The request will be considered at a public hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission Sept. 12.

The company has already submitted a building permit for a Burger King, Twin Falls Zoning and Development Manager Renee Carraway-Johnson said.

“They’re ready to go forward,” she said.

The HB Properties PUD covers 5 acres on the northwest corner of Washington Street North and Cheney Drive West. The plans for the property show the buildings facing internally, backing up to those streets.

Although no other restaurants have been announced, a drive-through window special use permit would allow for possible restaurants or financial institutions, Carraway-Johnson noted.

Calls to HB Boys, the company listed on the development’s plans, were not returned. The company manages Burger King, Subway and Costa Vida restaurants, Beans and Brews and service stations in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada and Oregon.
