On July 22, 1934, American gangster John Dillinger was shot to death by federal agents outside Chicago's Biograph Theater, where he had just seen the Clark Gable movie "Manhattan Melodrama" with two female companions.

Dillinger and his violent gang made headlines terrorizing the Midwest during the Depression era, robbing banks, staging jail breaks and killing 10 men.

The notorious criminal met his end after one of his companions tipped off the the FBI to his location.
