STANLEY — The Sawtooth Society has named Greg Travelstead as as its new executive director. He has lived in the Wood River Valley for the past 15 years. Travelstead has consulted with government, private and nonprofit clients on land and water planning issues, and has worked for the U.S. Forest Service on trail maintenance. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado.
“I look forward to carrying out the Sawtooth Society’s role as the only organization — public or private — that is dedicated exclusively to preserving, protecting and enhancing the 756,000-acre Sawtooth National Recreation Area,” Travelstead said in a statement. “What greater honor could I have than to help safeguard this national treasure and Idaho crown jewel.”
