Shannon Dale Rowe

TWIN FALLS • Once in a while a beautiful soul with sincere intent to spread joy will saunter into our lives only to disappear so suddenly that we are left with immense grief. For those who knew him, this lovely soul was our beloved Shannon Rowe.

Shannon Dale Rowe, 36, of Twin Falls, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the University of Utah Hospital. He was born in Andrews, Texas, on March 22, 1978, to Donal and Dorinda Long, who had three children: Shane, Shannon and Casey. Shannon and his older brother, Shane, were later adopted by Dale and Janet Rowe. They moved to Carlsbad, N.M., where they joined their new siblings, brothers, Ricky, Alan and Paul Rowe; and sister, Crystal Rowe. Shannon attended Grants High School in Grants, N.M., and Spring Creek High School in Spring Creek, Nev., before settling in Idaho.

Shannon was blessed with three amazingly beautiful children: Daisy Rowe, Jesse Rowe and Chance Rowe. He loved each and every one of them and his eyes lit up with adoration and pride whenever he had the chance to boast. Shannon was looking forward to attending Daisy’s upcoming graduation in June. He enjoyed his time with his children, and they remained close to his heart even while they were apart. The loss of Chance Rowe was devastating for Shannon. He carried that sadness wherever he went.

After graduating from Lineman College, Shannon first worked as an apprentice for Western Line Builders after which he worked for Orius Electric. His career with Idaho Power began in September 2002 and, in 2008, he became a lineman foreman. For Shannon, working with his brothers at Idaho Power was not just a job — it was a kinship. He also fostered many friendships throughout his life. Many of which were by his side even in the end.

Shannon measured success, not by the money he made or power he had but by the amount of lives he touched and friends he made. He dedicated countless hours volunteering and mentoring the Elev8 teen program at the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley, CSI Refugee Center and CASA. These organizations were especially dear to his heart. He was an inspirational man who gave his heart and soul to others, exemplifying what it means to rise above your circumstances and create your own destiny.

In 2011, fate brought Shannon to the love of his life, Heather Bennett. Two hearts were joined together and he soon became a huge part of the lives of her wonderful friends and loving family, including Heather’s daughter, Kylee. Although Shannon and Heather’s time together was cut short, many memories were made during their numerous adventures: traveling, camping, biking, hiking and walking their two fur kids, Rowben and Chipper.

Shannon is survived by his children, Daisy and Jesse Rowe; his biological brothers, Shane (Natalie) Rowe and Casey Rowe; his adopted brothers, Ricky (Bernie) Rowe, Alan (Patty) Rowe and Paul (Diane) Rowe; his adopted sister, Crystal Nickelson (Chris Black); and his adopted parents, Dale and Janet Rowe. He was preceded in death by his biological parents; and his son, Chance Rowe.

Shannon will forever be deeply missed. His life was cut too short, but we find comfort in knowing that his soul went to heaven and his heart remained with us.

A celebration of Shannon’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley, 999 Frontier Road in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The family would like to thank St. Luke's Magic Valley, the SICU staff at the University of Utah Hospital for their gentle and compassionate care, Idaho Power, the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley and CASA. The family also wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the many friends and family for their unending support, love and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any donations made in Shannon's name be sent to: Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley, 999 Frontier Road, Twin Falls, ID 83301.
