Jan. 15, 1988-Oct. 26, 2014
DECLO • Whitney Leigh (Satterwhite) Murphy, age 26, of Declo, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at her home in Declo.
Whitney was born Jan. 15, 1988, to Jerry and Connie (Benally) Satterwhite of Burley, Idaho. She had a rough start, remaining in the hospital for several days after birth. From that very first day, it was obvious that Whitney had a tenacity and love for life. Beginning as a small child, she brought joy to all she knew. She was always willing to take a chance, go the extra mile and share the generosity of what had been given to her. She attended Burley High School.
In January of 2010, Whitney married Jim Murphy. She became the proud “Mom” to Ryker Murphy. Being the best mother and wife that she could be was Whitney’s greatest joy. Every day was planned around what her family needed so that she could spend the most time with them as possible. When she wasn’t with her husband and son, she was often with her nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers, sisters, parents and friends sharing her positive attitude, cheerful conversations and jokes.
More important than anything in Whitney’s life was her love for God and her desire to learn His word and live His plan for her life. In recent years, she was faithful in attendance to services at the Truth Tabernacle, where she had been a member since she was a child. More than her faithful attendance was her faithfulness to live her life every day in a manner which showed her love for God and her desire to please Him. Whitney was not ashamed to declare her beliefs, explain to others the necessity of God’s ways and most definitely not ashamed to worship God. She loved to sing and did so very well. She was a favorite Sunday school teacher, taking the time to show her love for every child throughout the week and not just on Sunday morning. Each child she taught will miss her greatly.
Whitney is survived by her husband, Jim; her son, Ryker; her parents, Jerry and Connie Satterwhite; her sisters, Janna Thompson and Robyn (Frank) Rios; her brothers, Adam (Michelle) Satterwhite and Kale (Bridgette) Satterwhite; her grandparents, Fred (Marie) Benally, Lilly Jones and Kay Satterwhite; her nieces and nephews, Austen, Levi and Garrett Thompson, Jordan McClain, Adam Jr., Landon and Luke Satterwhite, Brylee Satterwhite, Aiyana, Nicole, Brayden and Frankie Rios; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was taken from us much too early; we will truly miss her.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at the Truth Tabernacle, 2459 Hiland Ave. in Burley, with Pastor Quinn Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in the Declo Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St. in Burley, and from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
