HANSEN — A local firefighting team has taken back command of the Badger Fire, which is now 93% contained after burning 90,143 acres.

Warm weather over the next few days is expected to continue to bring more active burning inside the fire, firefighters said in their Friday morning update. Crews continue to monitor and improve containment lines.

Firefighters may use burnout operations to improve and create containment lines along the more active sections on the fire Friday. Some smoke may be visible throughout the day. Road and campsite repairs continue.

The Sawtooth National Forest Fire Area Closure remains in effect.
