DEQ Seeks Public Comment on
Draft Work Plan to Address Soil
Contamination in Burley, Idaho
In compliance with the “Idaho Land Remediation Rules”
(IDAPA 58.01.18), the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
has scheduled a 30-day public comment period on a draft work plan to
address soil contamination at a site in Burley, ID. The property, located
at 320 W. Main St., is contaminated from past recycling activities,
including lead-acid battery recycling.
The purpose of the Voluntary Remediation Work Plan is to guide
cleanup of the site and describe implementation of the proposed
cleanup method. The proposed cleanup will involve targeted
excavation and proper treatment and disposal of contaminated
soil. The draft work plan can be reviewed on DEQ’s website at, at DEQ’s Twin Falls Regional
Office (650 Addison Ave. W., Suite 110), and the Burley Public
Library (1300 Miller Ave.) Written comments will be accepted through
Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. MDT. Submit questions and/or written comments on
