Suicide

Mini-Cassia community leaders are working on a plan to start a local chapter of the Idaho Suicide Prevention Network. The idea was discussed after a meeting held Jan. 12, 2018 in Burley to develop an action plan to combat suicide in the community. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in Idaho for people ages 15-34. Idaho is consistently among the states with the highest suicide rate, and ranked eighth in the nation in 2016. NOTE: With a subject matter such as suicide I knew I had to be delicate with my illustration. I need an engaging photo that will get the viewer to read the story, but I don't want to offend any of our readers. I think this is an even balance. I wanted to illustrate how someone might feel when they are considering suicide. I think this image is simple but gets the point across in an appropriate way.
