Steam locomotive No. 844

No. 844 is Union Pacific’s ambassador of goodwill and has traveled hundreds of thousands of miles as such since it was retired from passenger service 60 years ago. The U.P.’s “Living Legend” left Cheyenne, Wyo., Tuesday on a special excursion to the Treasure Valley and back. The train spent Friday night in Gooding and will depart at 9 a.m. Saturday.
