Oakley stone

Buck, an eight-year-old chow and sheppard mix, looks out at the hills as he stands on a pile of broken quartzite Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Warm Springs Quarry on Middle Mountain in Oakley. Buck's owner, Bruce Mitchell, is the Member Owner of Sawtooth Stone LLC., which mines about 20,000 tons of stone each season. Mitchell says he didn't know anything about stone mining when he started in the industry. 'The learning curve was steep, just like the mountain,' he says. NOTE: This image doesn't have a lot to do with the story, but it is a very nice feature. Always keep your eyes open while on assignment. You never know what else you might find.
