Idaho Trout Company

Idaho Aquaculture Industry - Manager Dirk Bogaard poses for a portrait in the natural spring water used at his facility Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Idaho Trout Company in Hagerman Idaho. Bogaard says the aquaculture industry's future lies in lower waste loads. 'The ability to produce fish economically with the water we have available is key,' he says. NOTE: It's rare for me to pull more than one photo from the same assignment for my top 12, but this story was so great that I couldn't resist. It has a nice balance of portraits, detail shots and action shots. For this image, I wanted to showcase the natural spring water, a vital asset of his business, while giving the reader an idea of who the main speaker is. Fortunately he was a good sport and agreed to get in the water.
