Hailey flooding

Sandbags sit next to a boat at the end of a driveway in an evacuated neighborhood Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in the Della View area in Hailey Idaho. On May 8, the Big Wood River crested its banks and flooded the Della View subdivision. A few days later, 40 houses in the subdivision were under a mandatory evacuation. NOTE: This is a pretty quiet spot news photo, but I think it works because it helps tell the story. It shows that flooding is bad enough for homeowners to require boats to access their houses, and it also displays that the neighborhood was evacuated by the absence of people in the shot. Of course I would have loved to get a person in the shot, but my job is to document the situation as it unfolds.
