TWIN FALLS – Kimberly’s defense was airtight Wednesday night, as the Bulldogs beat Buhl 49-28 to move on to the championship game of the 3A Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference at CSI.
Kimberly jumped out to an 11-5 lead after one quarter, and led 23-12 at the half. Sophomore Sophomore guard had a big night for the Bulldogs. After connecting on three field goals in the first quarter, she finished with a team-high 10 points.
“Our young players have come so far. We played so well as a team tonight. Our defense was steady. We took the lead early and went ahead and finished it off,” said Kimberly head coach Stanley Watts.
Seven different players scored at least four points for Kimberly. Senior Emily Wadsworth scored all nine of her points in the second half, and Meg Walker, Jesse Wadsworth, and Jessi Schmitz each had six points.
After taking a hard hit in a scrum after the opening tip, junior Madison Somers led Buhl with five points.
Kimberly is the last remaining team in the SCIC Conference Tournament without a loss. The top-seeded Bulldogs will take on the winner of Gooding/Buhl next Wednesday at CSI. If the Bulldogs win that game, they’ll be crowned district champions. If they lose, both teams will play one final game for the district title the following night.
