TWIN FALLS — The College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team blew a seven point first-half lead Thursday, falling to Salt Lake Community College for the second time this season, 76-67.

The Golden Eagles gave up 20 offensive rebounds, missed 13 free-throws and shot just 20 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

"In tight games you have to do a lot better in those areas," head coach Steve Gosar said. "We gave up way too many offensive rebounds and didn't get to 50-50 balls." Shooting guard Jaysean Paige was the only reason the Bruins didn't win by much more. Paige scored 25 points on nine made field goals, while holding Skylar Halford to a goose egg on 0-for-13 shooting.

"My defense created my offense," Paige said. "I felt good going into the game. But we didn't get beat, we lost. We beat ourselves."

Paige scored seven of his team's first 15 points, as the Golden Eagles held a 15-8 advantage seven minutes into the contest. But the Bruins slowly whittled away the lead, scoring in a manner often called "garbage points" in basketball parlance - transition, offensive rebounds and free-throws on contested drives.

CSI was only down 42-40 with 11 minutes left, but gave up seven straight points before the Golden Eagles battled back to cut it to four with five minutes left.

CSI not only struggled to shoot from the outside, but failed to convert on many easy opportunities inside, compounding its failings on the line.

Point guard Montigo Alford was just 2-for-8 from the field. As a team, CSI had 10 assists. It had 15 turnovers.

CSI will host Snow College on Saturday.
