Canyon Ridge 4, Madison 2

TWIN FALLS – Canyon Ridge opened its season with a 4-2 win over Madison. Abdelgadir Mohamed netted a hat trick and Pau Khai scored the fourth goal. Three different Riverhawks had assists, led by Sagar Bhattarrai with two.

Canyon Ridge hosts Rigby on Saturday morning.

Minico 3, American Falls 1

AMERICAN FALLS – Minico opened its boys soccer season with a road win over 3A American Falls. The Spartans led 2-1 at halftime, and added a third insurance goal late in the second half. Alex Murillo scored two goals, one in each half, and Alan Ambriz added a goal.

Minico next hosts Mountain Home on Saturday morning.

Girls Soccer

Wood River 3, Blackfoot 1

HAILEY — Wood River opened its season with a home win over Blackfoot. Blackfoot struck first with a goal in the second minute, but forward Emily Thayer responded with a goal for the Wolverines three minutes later.

Lupita Patlan scored a goal just before halftime to give Wood River the lead, then added another goal in the 65th minute for good measure. Wood River next hosts Canyon Ridge on Wednesday in a rematch of last year’s state tournament qualifier.

Community School 4, McCall-Donnelly 1

SUN VALLEY – The Community School opened up its 2017 season with a 4-1 win over McCall-Donnelly. McCall scored early in the game on a penalty kick, but it was all Cutthroats after that. Lily Fitzgerald, Ella Viesturs, Addie Rafford and Chloe Tanous recorded goals.

Community School and McCall-Donnelly play again on Saturday morning.
