The undefeated Oakley Hornets crept closer to No. 1 Prairie in the week 8 Idaho high school girls basketball poll, released on Wednesday.

No. 2 Oakley (19-0) pulled within four voting points of first place in 1A Division I, receiving four No. 1 votes. Prairie earned six No. 1 votes.

The Hornets have one game standing between them and an undefeated record: at Wendell on Thursday.

Shoshone (16-3) remained No. 4 in 1A-DI despite falling to Wendell 35-34 on Saturday at home, losing only three points.

Minico received a No. 1 vote in the 4A poll despite dropping from No. 2 to No. 5 overall. The Spartans (14-6) finished up regular season conference play with wins against Wood River and Canyon Ridge, earning a 9-1 Great Basin Conference record and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

Twin Falls (11-9) lost both of its points from the week 7 poll after falling to Burley 40-30 on the road.

Lighthouse Christian (13-4) jumped Dietrich (13-4) in the 1A Division II poll, moving to No. 4 after downing the now-No. 5 Blue Devils 56-50 at home on Thursday.

Carey (10-7) is 5-0 in North Side Conference play, and it earned two voting points after beating the Lions 44-41 at home on Tuesday. The Panthers have a chance to knock off Dietrich on the road on Friday.

Only one 3A team received any voting points: Buhl (13-6), with a lone fifth-place vote. Gooding (13-4) lost its three points after falling in back-to-back Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference games last week against Buhl and Kimberly.
