Boys athlete of the week: Slade Dill, Dietrich

Dietrich boys basketball coach Wayne Dill called his son’s performance on Saturday night “as good an all-around game as we’ve had in years.” Slade scored 32 points and grabbed 19 rebounds against Oakley in Saturday’s Blue Devil Holiday Tournament championship game. He tallied his game-high point total on efficient shooting, too — 12-of-16 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range. Slade also had 18 points and 12 rebounds on Friday against Council to open the Blue Devils’ season.

Girls athlete of the week: Morgan Harr, Twin Falls

The senior led the Twin Falls girls basketball team to a pair of Great Basin Conference wins this past week. On Tuesday, Harr scored 19 points in a 53-38 win over Wood River. Two days later, she scored 19 points again, this time in a 56-31 win over rival Canyon Ridge. The Bruins (3-3) have won three straight games.
