Shelley • Maysie Rongen led the Bulldogs with eight kills and Jayden Stanger had 14 assists as Kimberly dropped its season opener. It travels to Highland next weekend for a tournament.
Castleford 3, Glenns Ferry 1 (14-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-16)
CASTLEFORD • Bailey Buffington had eight kills while Elly Machado added seven as the Wolves won their season opener. Castleford plays at Hagerman on Thursday.
Minico 4, Preston 1 (25-15, 15-25, 25-22, 25-14, 15-12)
RUPERT • Kelee Call had 21 kills as the Spartans won their season opener. It plays Century and Pocatello next Tuesday.
American Falls 3, Gooding 2
GOODING • Alex Zamora and Brandon Casanas had goals for the Senators as they fell in their season opener.
Burley 5, Gooding 0
GOODING • Sydney Pilling had two goals, while Natalie Rice, Charlotte Nyblade and Kessly Masoner all added one. Freshman Sam Waters replaced her sister as goalkeeper and got the shutout.
Girls Falls Basketball
The registration period for girls fall basketball will be Aug., 28 to Sept. 2 with an additional $10 late fee charged after Sept., 21st, with registration closing on Oct. 2nd. The cost will be $20 in city limits and $35 outside city limits. If your child needs a Jersey you can purchase them for $10 at the Parks and Recreation office.
Fall Basketball is for girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade . Teams will start practices the week of October 5th. Games will be held on Saturdays at either Robert Stuart or O’Leary Jr. Highs from Oct. 17 to Dec. , with an all day end of the season tournament for the 4th-8th grade leagues starting on Saturday Dec., 5. Volunteer coaches are needed.

2015 Magic Valley Amateur at Twin Falls Golf Club
The Magic Valley Amateur at Twin Falls Golf Club will be held Sept. 5-7. Entry fee is $90 per player for the stroke play event. There will be a closest to the pin contest to win a new Bushnell Tour v3 Rangefinder.
All closest to pin winners will compete in a final closest to the pin following play on Sunday. Winner of final closest to the pin wins a Bushnell Tour v3 Rangefinder. To register, you must have a USGA Handicap Index. The Tournament is 100 percent payout.
