KIMBERLY — The Bulldogs battled back from five-point deficit at half to win at home.

Jessie Wadsworth led Kimberly with 12 points, while Torie King contributed 10 points for Wood River.

“It was a close battle,” Kimberly head coach Stanley Watts said. “We fought back and forth, and we got it at the end there.”

Kimberly (2-1) faces Canyon Ridge next Tuesday, while Wood River (0-3) takes on Mountain Home at home on Thursday.

POCATELLO – The Bobcats stayed undefeated after capturing a nonconference road win on Wednesday.

A 14-8 second quarter and a 13-4 third made the difference in Burley’s victory.

“Our defense was terrific,” Burley coach Roger Caresia said. “Later on, we got a little fatigued, but we had enough to close the game.”

Jemilyn Mahoney led all scorers with 16 points, and Ashley Shirely added 14 for the Bobcats (2-0), who play at Bonneville on Friday.

WENDELL – The Trojans rode aggressive defense and the scoring touch of Robin Moreno to a 38-18 victory over Richfield.

Though Wendell totaled 24 fouls on the night, the defensive effort would lead to 23 steals. Moreno led the Trojans with 13 points including the team’s lone 3-pointer.

“We played pretty aggressively,” Wendell head coach Robert Lamm said. “At times it came up and bit us. We’ll clean it up tomorrow.”

Wendell (1-0) will face off against Murtaugh at home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

HAGERMAN – A huge second half lifted the Lions to a nonconference win.

Lighthouse scored just nine points in the first half, including a scoreless second quarter. But the Lions outscored the Pirates 40-25 in the second half to pull out the win.

“We just ran out of steam toward the end,” Hagerman coach Derrick Lyons said. “We just couldn’t keep up with their frantic pace.”

Chloe Gomez led all players with 17 points, and Haylee Grossman scored 16 for Lighthouse (3-0), which hosts Camas County on Monday.

Elena Floyd scored 12 points, and Brenna Firth added 10 for Hagerman (1-1), which plays at Castleford on Thursday.
