FILER – The Senators staved off a furious comeback to earn a Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference win on the road.

Gooding won 25-12, 25-15, 12-25, 23-25, 15-9.

“I’m glad that they came back,” Filer coach Tanya Beard said. “But you’ve gotta come out to play.”

Abee Bandy had 15 kills, and Kelsie Snyder and Halle Knight had 12 digs each for the Wildcats (1-1 in conference), who host Kimberly on Thursday.

Gooding (2-1) plays at Declo the same day.

Twin Falls 3, Wood River 0

TWIN FALLS – The Bruins improved to 3-0 in Great Basin Conference play with a 25-13, 25-5, 25-13 win over the Wolverines on Tuesday.

“We had pretty good ball control tonight, from serving to passing,” Twin Falls coach B.J. Price said.

Tori Edwards had nine kills, Taylor Burnam had six kills and Claire Hodge had 12 digs for the Bruins, which play at Jerome on Thursday.

Wood River (1-2 in conference) hosts Canyon Ridge the same day.

Minico 3, Jerome 0

JEROME – The Spartans improved to 2-1 in conference with a 25-8, 25-19, 25-7 win at Jerome on Tuesday.

“Errors kinda got to them. It was a roller-coaster ride,” Jerome coach Babes Kalulu said of her players. “The middle set, they found themselves and played with more energy.”

Sunny Perry had 18 kills, Saydi Anderson had 40 assists and Taylia Stimpson had eight kills and 20 digs for Minico, which hosts rival Burley on Thursday.

The Tigers (0-3 in conference) host Twin Falls the same day.

Valley 3, Raft River 0; Grace 2, Valley 0; Grace 2, Raft River 0

HAZLETON – Grace won both of its matches, and host Valley split its two at Tuesday’s tri-match.

Valley beat Raft River 25-12, 25-13, 25-17, and it lost to Grace 14-25, 16-25.

“We’re getting better fundamentally. We’re still a long ways away, but we’re working hard and improving. That’s all that matters this time in the season.”

Valley (4-4, 2-1) plays at Hagerman on Thursday.

Glenns Ferry 3, Wendell 2

WENDELL — The visiting Pilots and host Spartans battled for five sets, with Glenns Ferry getting the 25-15, 21-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-9 win.

Wendell junior Callie Clapp ended the match with 13 kills and three aces, followed by Faith Mabey with nine. Madi Flick dished out 17 assists, and Abby Kuka had 15 digs.

“Karla Coronado really stepped up as a leader,” said Wendell coach Michelle Aoi. “As one of our seniors, she kept the team focused. This was probably our best match of the season. We are excited about continuing our growth to build our program.”

Glenns Ferry is at Raft River this Thursday. Wendell (0-6) is at Jerome Invitational this weekend.

Lighthouse Christian 3, Castleford 0

TWIN FALLS – The Lions rolled over the Wolves 25-12, 25-8, 25-8 for their first conference win of the season.

“We probably could’ve played them tougher,” Castleford coach Oscar Flores said. “We started strong, but we started struggling in some areas.”

Sabrina De Jong had 19 assists and two blocks, and Haylee Grossman had 10 kills, seven digs and two blocks for the Lions (5-0), who play at Community School on Thursday.

Savanah Nunes and Makayla Flores each had seven digs for Castleford (0-2 in conference), which hosts Twin Falls Christian Academy on Thursday.

Murtaugh 3, Richfield 0

MURTAUGH – The Red Devils rolled to a 25-14, 25-4, 25-12 win on Tuesday for their first conference victory.

Jenna Benites had 22 assists for Murtaugh (6-3), which plays at Carey on Thursday.

Twin Falls Christian Academy 3, Jackpot (Nev.) 0

JACKPOT, Nev. — Twin Falls Christian Academy earned a 25-19, 25-12, 25-21 nonconference win on Tuesday.

TFCA (4-0) plays at Castleford on Thursday.

BUHL – The Indians came away with a High Desert Conference win on Tuesday.

Jared Iniguez and Israel Zarazua scored for Buhl (3-4-1, 2-3-1), which hosts the Canyon Ridge JV team on Saturday.

Christian Rodriguez scored for Wendell (0-4-1 overall and in conference), which hosts Gooding on Thursday.

Bliss 6, Declo 2

DECLO — The Bears rolled to another High Desert Conference win on Tuesday.

Armando Cordoba scored five goals, and Alex Cruz scored his first as a varsity player for Bliss (5-0 in conference), which hosts Filer on Thursday.

Community School 6, Filer 1

SUN VALLEY — The Cutthroats improved to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the High Desert Conference with the home win at Sagewillow over the Wildcats.

Cash Dart and William Everitt each had two goals and James Everitt and Henry Cherp added single goals.

“Sophomore sweeper Shea Brokaw was simply outstanding,” said Cutthroats coach Richard Whitelaw. “The final score did not reflect the closeness of the game. It was 0-0 until the 55th minute.”

Community School hosts Declo on Thursday, and Filer hosts Canyon Ridge on Saturday.

SUN VALLEY — The Cutthroats are undefeated in the High Desert League at 8-0 (8-0-1 overall) after beating the visiting Wildcats at Sagewillow.

Junior Lily Fitzgerald continued her team leading scoring with four goals. Christine Estep, Kate Weatherholz, Airey Jones, Crosby Boe, and Grace Pepin each added goals and Chloe Tanous and Boe recorded assists.

The Cutthroats play Declo on Thursday.

Buhl 4, Wendell 1

BUHL — The Indians earned a High Desert Conference win on Tuesday.

Madison Somers scored two goals, and Taylor Heineman and Kyra Azeveda each scored one for Buhl, which hosts Canyon Ridge on Saturday.
