Declo 42, West Side 7

DAYTON — Declo picked up perhaps its most commanding win of the season Friday night to improve to 8-0 on the year.

The top-ranked Hornets traveled to Dayton and pounded third-ranked West Side. They led 21-0 at halftime and scored in each of the four quarters. Junior Keegan Duncan scored a trio of touchdowns, including a 52-yard punt return in the fourth quarter.

Oakley 34, Challis 14

CHALLIS – The Hornets improved to 5-0 in the Snake River Conference and 5-1 overall in what Oakley head coach Kade Craner called a “rough, physical game.”

Oakley totaled 343 total yards of offense with 230 yards on the ground and 113 yards passing. Craner noted that Austin Bedke played a great game on both sides of the ball. He had nine carries for 40 yards and scored on a six-yard run, had a 21-yard fumble return and returned a blocked punt 28 yards. He also had 12 tackles on the defensive side of the ball.

The Oakley defense recorded 13 sacks of the Challis quarterback. On the other side, Oakley quarterback Tate Cranney went down with a leg injury.

Oakley next hosts Valley on Friday in a big Snake River Conference matchup.

Grace 42, Valley 40

GRACE – Valley suffered its first loss of the season Friday on the road.

The Vikings and Grizzlies went back and forth, but Grace went up 42-34 early in the fourth quarter. Valley got the ball back with just over two minutes remaining on the clock. After marching down the field and scoring a touchdown, the Vikings’ two-point try failed, securing the win for Grace. No stats were available.

Valley (6-1, 4-1 Snake River Conference) next travels to Oakley, which has not lost a conference game yet this season.

Lighthouse Christian 44, Castleford 0

CASTLEFORD – Lighthouse Christian had 331 yards all on the ground in the Sawtooth Conference West win over Castleford.

Lions running back Brandon Houser rushed for180 yards on 14 attempts and scored three touchdowns. Brandon Butler ran six times and picked up 97 yards and scored on runs of 67 and 12 yards.

Lighthouse Christian (5-2, 5-1) is at Dietrich and Castleford (3-4, 3-3) travels to Murtaugh on Friday.

Gooding 61, Wendell 12

WENDELL – Gooding take care of business Friday night against Wendell. Junior Cade Morris took the opening kickoff to the house, and after a defensive three-and-out, Gooding senior Mike Needham scored a touchdown on two carries.

The Senators led 40-0 and 54-0 at halftime, and their defense forced five turnovers in the first half. Sophomore quarterback Shane Jennings threw for five touchdowns, including two apiece to senior Logan Strom and junior Cayden Loveland.

Gooding (7-1) next hosts Buhl in a Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference matchup. Wendell (0-6) travels to top-ranked Declo for its lone Canyon Conference game of the season.

UPDATE: Jennings completed 7-of-8 passes for 168 yards and five TDs, and he ran for 62 yards on six carries, according to Gooding head coach Cameron Andersen.

RICHFIELD — The Sawtooth Conference West game was called with one minute and 30 seconds left in the first quarter, as Richfield’s roster dwindled to six players. The Tigers started the game with eight. One week ago, Camas County had to cancel a game against Clark-Watersprings because the Mushers did not have enough players.

For the Mushers, Remington Kramer caught two 30-yard passes from Trey Smith and Erik Robles caught a 31-yard pass from Smith and ran the ball in from 33 yards.

Camas County (2-5, 2-4) hosts Hansen next Friday at 3:30 and Richfield (1-5, 1-5) is at Carey.
