Declo 55, Orofino 6

DECLO – The top-ranked Declo Hornets continued their dominant 2017 campaign with a blowout win over Orofino Friday night.

Orofino struck first on a 70-yard rushing score, but Declo responded with 22 points in the first quarter, 20 in the second, and 13 more in the second half for good measure.

Declo junior Keegan Duncan rushed 14 times for 226 yards and two touchdowns, including a 79-yard scamper. As a team, the Hornets rushed 39 times for 463 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback McKay Breshears completed six of nine passing attempts for 87 yards and three scores.

Declo (7-0) travels to West Side next week for a big matchup with the Pirates, who were ranked third in the latest 2A state media poll.

Oakley 63, Shoshone 0

SHOSHONE – The Hornets of Oakley improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Snake River Conference with a road victory over the Indians Friday night.

Oakley totaled 413 yards of offense with 303 yards on the ground and 110 passing. Senior back Sam Mitton was the leading rusher with 104 yards on only three rushes. He scored on runs of 52 and 42 yards. Junior

Austin Bedke also finished with two scores, one on a 2-yard run and also had a 30-yard fumble return. Sophomore Levi Jackson had touchdown runs of 28 and 23 yards, Chandler Jones ran the ball in from 50 yards.

Oakley (4-1, 3-0) travels to Challis for a big conference matchup, and Shoshone (0-6, 0-4) is at Raft River on Friday.

Wood River 21, Buhl 12

HAILEY — Wood River jumped out to a 21-0 lead and held off 3A Buhl for its second straight win Thursday night.

The Wolverines scored seven points in each of the final three quarters to build its lead. Buhl responded with two long scoring plays – an 80-yard run and an 82-yard pass – to pull within one score in the final minutes.

The Indians outgained Wood River in total yardage 287 to 233, but the Wolverines had one turnover to Buhl’s five. Wood River also had 16 first downs to Buhl’s 11.

Wood River (2-5) travels to Canyon Ridge next week in search of its second Great Basin Conference win of the season. Buhl (3-3) travels to Kimberly for a big Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference matchup.

OAKLEY — The host Hornets defeated the Indians, 24-26, 26-24, 27-25, 26-24 in the Snake River Conference match.

Oakley seniors led in final stats with Rachael Mitton finishing with a huge double-double of 25 kills and 39 digs. Makinlee Cranney followed with 14 kills, and Jaclyn Wybenga also registered a double-double with 15 digs and 10 kills. Setter Blakely Payton distributed 54 assists.

Oakley (15-1, 9-0) plays at Declo on Monday, and Shoshone hosts Valley and Lighthouse Christian the same day.
