Declo 4, Buhl 0

DECLO – The Hornets cruised past the Indians on their way to the High Desert Conference championship game.

“They dominated this game,” Declo coach Jeralee Jones said. “They just had it.”

Halee Whitehead and Xitlalli Ruiz scored in the first half, and Ruiz and Mataya Gentry scored in the second half for second-seeded Declo (10-3), which plays at top-seeded Community School on Thursday for the district title.

“I really think they have what it takes to beat them, to play with them, to make it a tough game,” Jones said. “It will be a tough game if they play like they did today.”

No. 3 Buhl hosts No. 4 Wendell in a loser-out game, which is also Thursday.

Community School 10, Wendell 0

SUN VALLEY — The Cutthroats hosted the Trojans in their first game of the district tournament and came away with the victory.

Lily Fitzgerald had a very impressive offensive game with five goals and two assists. Ella Viesturs, Grace Pepin, Molly Milgard and Christine Estep each scored a goal, and Wendell had an own goal. Caroline Estep and Viesturs each had an assist.

The top-seeded Cutthroats (16-0-1) host No. 2 Declo in the district championship on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The No. 4 Trojans play at Buhl in a loser-out game, also Thursday at 4:30.

Community School 9, Wendell 0

SUN VALLEY — The No. 2-seeded Cutthroats will play at No. 1 Bliss in the district final Thursday following Tuesday’s blowout win over the Trojans.

Fletcher Stumph led the Community School scoring with two goals. Cash Dart, Ridley Lindstrom, James Everitt, William Everitt, Charlie Stumph and Kai Nelson each added goals and Wendell had an own goal.

Dart, a sophomore forward, has now scored in 18 straight games.

No. 6 Wendell will play at No. 5 Buhl on Thursday in a loser-out game.


Twin Falls 3, Wood River 0

TWIN FALLS – The Burins swept the Wolverines 25-22, 25-19, 25-9 for a Great Basin Conference win Tuesday night.

Annie Kaminski, Maya Hollister and Emily Vandenberg each had six kills, and Sidney Chambers had 19 assists for Wood River (13-15, 4-5), which wraps up the regular season Thursday at Minico.

Twin Falls hosts rival Canyon Ridge the same day.

Gooding 3, Buhl 2

BUHL – The Senators held off the Indians 17-25, 26-24, 25-9, 15-25, 15-6 for a Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference win on Tuesday.

Kylie Crossland has 12 kills for Buhl (7-7, 1-4), which hosts Declo on Thursday to end the regular season.

“There are some things we need to clean up, especially going into the district tournament,” Buhl coach Denny Moretto said.

Gooding’s next match is Saturday in the first round of districts.

Lighthouse Christian 3, Filer 2

TWIN FALLS — The Lions had to make a comeback after trailing the visiting Wildcats two sets to one but were able to respond winning the fourth and fifth sets for the tough victory 25-20, 21-25, 10-25, 25-22, 15-10.

Lighthouse senior Haylee Grossman posted 14 kills, and junior Gracie Cover finished with 13 kills and five serving aces. Senior setter Sabrina De Jong tallied 29 assists. The Lighthouse Christian had a total of 55 team digs, with Grossman completing her double-double with a team-high 15 digs and Maycee Holloway with 12.

Filer is at Kimberly Thursday, and Lighthouse Christian hosts Watersprings and Twin Falls Christian Academy the same day.

Dietrich 3, Camas County 1

DIETRICH — Dietrich finished the North Side Conference regular season with the 25-20, 21-25, 25-12, 25-7 defeat of the Mushers.

Dietrich senior Jaxen Eggleston finished with a team-high 20 kills followed by Matigan Bingham and Cassandra Berthelson each with eight. Quincie Christiansen added seven kills. Alexi Hagen dished out 20 assists, and Brianna Astle had 18.

Dietrich (10-4, 6-2) is at Hagerman on Thursday.

Carey 3, Richfield 0

CAREY — Carey junior Shantell Chavez had a team-high 13 kills, Kodi Green followed with 10 and Athanasia Versis and Rylee Smith each added seven in the North Side Conference 25-9, 25-11, 25-9 win over the Tigers.

Freshman setter Kylie Wood passed for 23 assists, and Smith and Green each had four serving aces. Lindsey Morey led the defense with 11 digs, Chavez six, and Versis had five.

Carey (12-5, 6-1) hosts Community School on Thursday. Richfield (1-16, 1-7) begins district play on Saturday.

Community School 3, Castleford 1

SUN VALLEY — The Cutthroats improved the 4-3 in the North Side Conference and 4-7 overall with the home 25-17, 17-25, 25-23, 25-19 victory over the Wolves.

Senior Kristina Poydenis led the Cutthroats with nine kills, and Rachel Roudabush followed with four. Katie Wehrly had seven serving aces, and Savanah Spoor had four. Poydenis led the play at the net with seven blocks, and Spoor had three.

Castleford travels to Glenns Ferry and Community School is at Carey on Thursday.

Hagerman 3, Raft River 1

HAGERMAN — Hagerman beat Raft River 25-21, 25-16, 24-26, 25-12 in the home Snake River Conference match.

Hagerman seniors Aubri Achabal finished with eight kills, and Tristyn Hulme had seven kills, eight digs and six aces. Setter Alana Floyd recorded a double-double with 20 assists and 10 digs.

Hagerman (8-7, 6-4) hosts Dietrich and Raft River hosts Murtaugh on Thursday.
